Safe Islands for Seabirds - LIFE07 NAT/P/000649

Pioneer project for the conservation of seabird colonies in the Azores, trough habitat restoration measures and control and eradication of invasive alien species.
The LIFE project “Safe Islands for Seabirds” was coordinated by the Portuguese Society for the Study of Birds (SPEA) with several other partners: the Regional Secretary of the Environment and the Sea (SRAM) , the Council of Corvo (CMC) and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB).
This project was financed with the contribution of the LIFE financial instrument of the European Community.

Since 2013 occurs the After-LIFE Project "Safe islands for seabirds" coordinated by SPEA with the Council of Corvo as a partner and the Regional Government of Azores. Since September 2015 the After-LIFE Project is a result of the agreement  Nº 5/DRAM/2015 between SPEA and DRAM to implement the After-LIFE Safe islands for seabirds to continue and fullfill the actions started on the project LIFE07 NAT/P/000649.  The After-LIFE is also sponsored by a couple, namely, Mrs. Conceição Andrade and Mr. John Briscoe whom we are very thankfull to their contribution to seabirds conservation on Corvo island.
